Collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body, accounting for up to 80% of all proteins in the body. It is everywhere - in your bones, teeth, muscles, hair, and nails. It is also the main protein in the skin. The word collagen comes from the Greek word "kolla," which means glue. Collagen is the natural glue in the body that holds tissues and internal organs together and supports them. The body can produce collagen on its own, but after the age of 25, production begins to slow down, and the skin loses 1% of collagen each year.
As a result, the skin begins to age, wrinkles appear, hair loses its shine and becomes thinner, and nails become brittle. Collagen loss can also be accelerated by external factors such as pollution, smoking, diet, and photoaging (excessive sun exposure). UV rays stimulate enzymes that break down collagen. There is evidence that collagen loss can be reversed or at least slowed down through a healthy diet (especially by reducing sugar intake), avoiding risk factors, and excessive sun exposure. Proper skin care is also important, as it protects collagen in the skin while promoting the production of new collagen.
Depending on absorption, we distinguish between natural and hydrolyzed collagen. Natural collagen is found in animal skin, ligaments, and bones, and can be obtained from sources like beef broth or gelatin. However, since collagen in these foods is present in very small amounts and has a more complex structure (it consists of several amino acids that are tightly connected in an elongated peptide bond), it is difficult for the body to absorb. Hydrolyzed collagen is broken down into smaller particles (peptides) through an enzymatic process, allowing it to be absorbed by the body five times faster than natural collagen. There are 28 types of collagen, with types I, II, and III making up the majority (up to 80-90% of collagen):
SWY collagen consists of Naticol® and OmniCol™ collagen:
SWY collagen also contains:
We must not forget the excellent taste of the collagen - unlike most collagens on the market, SWY collagen does not have a fishy taste and is therefore delicious.
Advantages of SWY collagen:
Measure the recommended daily amount - one teaspoon (12g), mix it with 300 - 400 ml of water and wait 5 minutes for the powder to dissolve nicely. Stir well. Quantity: 300g = 25 servings. Recommended daily dose: 12g
